Book Covers are done!

Fabulous news to those who are following the progress of my book.  The book cover proofs were sent to me on Valentine's Day! I happened to be at the photographers being tortured when I saw the email. I do reserve the right to punch my cover layout guy in the arm when I see him for making me take pictures of my wrinkles!

The artwork I have seen so far is so much more than what I hoped for! I am very excited to get this book out and start marketing. In fact, I did hear from marketing yesterday and will start with pre-release marketing very soon!

My work on the Son's of Liberty, YA novel is progressing...the historical research is amazing. My husband is also working on a YA series of his own, reminicent of Hank the Cowdog and Wishbone. The tale (tail) wags with our five chihuahuas. He is so smart and has such a way with words, thanks to his Mom! Love you honey, I'm proud of you.

Book Info

Well, Alexander Graham Cracker is officially in illustration mode! I am so excited. I cannot reveal the details but it is going to be fabulous. I have a wonderful Illustrator working on the project and his work is amazing! I cannot wait to see the final product.

NaNoWriMo Completed

NaNoWriMo is nearly over for the year and I finished last week with a total around 77,000 words. That doesn't mean I have a finished novel, there is a lot of work to be done. The historical Sons of Liberty book is extremely interesting and the first battle scene I got to write came from a journal of a little boy who was there (he wrote the journal in his 70's) He was under the command of General Benadict Arnold and they were to go get the cannons from Ticonderoga.  I am looking forward to writing this series on American History. I love history.

1st Edits

My 1st edits arrived today via email. I was so nervous I could hardly open the document! There isn't very much (if any) that I need to change. It mostly showed the breaks for the illustrations.  My favorite quote is,

"Overall, your story was great! You have written a great rhyme scheme that flows really well."

How great is that!? I have printed out the edits, email and the instructions. I have until the 30th to get it back to the editor. I am so excited.

Update on children's book

Heard from Tate Publisher's this week. I have been assigned an editor (:-)) and will get proofs in a couple of weeks. Probably after Thanksgiving. The book will be then be sent to the illustrators. In the meantime, I filled out a questionaire, I need to email info to the editor and give her my ideas for illustration. It is a picture book afterall. So by Dec. 1st the type and story will be finalized and ready for the illustrator! Yea!!!

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writer's Month

Getting ready for a month of literary abandon and writing frenzy! National Novel Writing Month, known affectionally at NaNoWriMo.  This will be my 5th year to participate and last year I won the event with 66,000 words on the novel Ice Man. Wanda Huffman and I did this together. I wouldn't have made it without her help! This year Trace and I are working on a YA novel, The Son's of Liberty. This will hopefully become a series and doing the research has been amazing!

Whitewashed Tombs is currently undergoing some tweaking and the synopsis needs rewriting. I worked on it tonight and need to get it ready to email to the faithwriter's contest for publication by Thursday at the latest. I am 15 chapters into it and still have an outline to follow.
