books and drawings

I know this is an author/illustrator blog, and it has really shown the process of getting Alexander from thought to bookstore. Now the other book is being written and I'll post some illustrations soon. My Grandson and I shared a story tonight about an alligator and where they live in Florida and even in Texas. This is spawning a series of alligator sketches.

The grandsons helped me with my second booksigning and we had such fun. My posters turned out beautifully and Ben read my book and helped by telling everyone how much the books cost!

We went shopping today for the critters at home and for us and then worked on Father's day cards for tomorrow. Ben got a new hat at the feed store! He looks so cute in it, but don't tell him it's not a cowboy hat. 

Alexander's first Public Appearance

Yesterday started off rainy and cool after a night of storms and lightning. Trace and I got to the coffee shop and set up. I honestly felt like we were moving. We have a beautiful quilt for the kids to sit on, rocket ship tablecloth, matching lamp, starry pillows, a video of the original moon landing, a homemade rocket and other favorite books to read. I wore my vintage 50's silk shirtwaist dress, hankie and hat/gloves. Granny Red's flower brooch and matching earrings. Everything was very nice. Thanks Trace for helping with everything.

The Book is Here!

My books arrived last week. I've been busy keeping up Alexander Graham Cracker's FB page, I completely forgot about the blog. I've been scheduling book signings and anxiously awaiting the arrival of the hardcover books.

Books are going to press

The books are going to press. Once I place the order they will be here in three weeks and I can start with press releases, author appearances and book signings. They won't officially be released to the book stores until July. But the books can be purchased through me or on Tate Publishing's Web site.

Proofs

Final proofs in the book form arrived in the mail on Sat. I was surprised to see the size of the book and the way it will look finished. I have to edit the back cover...not sure what happened there. Everything else looks great on the inside. I am looking forward to having meetings with the marketing people and getting to record the ebook version! The next installment of Alexander Graham Cracker is perking on the computer!

Page Layouts!

I think I love special days! On Valentine's day I received the proofs to my front cover. On my brother's bd, I received the proofs of the artwork for the pages!! I got to print them out to check the fonts and they way everything looks on the pages. It looked amazing! I cannot wait to hold the book in my hands. <3
